Philadelphia FIGHT Family Dentistry is seeking 2 Dental Assistants to provide ancillary clinical support to patients at Philadelphia FIGHT's Community Health Centers (FQHC). The ideal candidate will understand the basics of a trauma-informed and harm-reduction approach to health care. We seek employees who can maintain a positive attitude, take accountability, and be adaptable to changes in our growing health center. This role requires teamwork, and the candidate will work closely and collaboratively with both clinical and administrative teams when necessary.


About the Role:

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday (8:50 - 5:00PM). May occasionally require early mornings or extended evening hours as needed.
  • Location: FIGHT Family Dentistry, 1207 Chestnut St, 4th Floor, Phila, PA 19107
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • FSLA status is non-exempt with an hourly rate of $21-22 per hour
    • 2 weeks of PTO annually + 11 paid holidays

Requirements:

  1. Proof of radiology certification for the state of Pennsylvania
  2. CPR/Basic Life Support/AED certification for adults and children
  3. At least 1 year of experience working as a Dental Assistant

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares treatment room by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  2. Prepares patients for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and obtaining vital measurements.
  3. Provides information to patients by answering questions and requests.
  4. Demonstrates high degree of knowledge and competency around general dental procedures, infection control procedures, sterilization technique, instrument setup and requisite materials.
  5. Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies, pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts.
  6. Ensure accuracy and efficiency regarding medical record taking and charting in the electronic medical record.
  7. Track and facilitate legal and regulatory compliance for the dental clinic (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, informed consent)
  8. Maintain and continuously improve professional and technical knowledge.
  9. Manages patient flow including triaging of urgent care patients.
  10. Provides oral health education and oral hygiene instructions.
  11. Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping patient and proprietary information confidential and secure.
  12. Demonstrate basic competency with computer technology, particularly Microsoft office suite.
  13. Constantly strive to achieve excellence and continuous improvement in the day-to-day operations of Philadelphia FIGHT Family Dentistry.
  14. Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
