Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) Job Description


FIGHT is a FQHC with a long history of providing care to vulnerable populations who could not get care elsewhere. The function of the FLEX Family Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) is to provide primary care for FIGHT patients between the ages of 0 and 26 years old in our pediatric and young adult clinic. Patients' treatment needs may be complicated by HIV, HCV, substance use disorder, and other vulnerabilities including race, ethnicity, language, immigration status, and LGBTQIA+ status. The FLEX Family Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) will be responsible for providing clinical care to patients to cover current provider outages and will do a combination of well and sick care.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Education: The Flex Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) will be a licensed clinician with preferably one or more years post training experience. Experience and interest in providing medical care to underserved populations is required. Experience in pediatrics, gender affirming care, substance abuse treatment, family planning and PrEP care are critical. Bilingual in Spanish and English strongly preferred. The Flex Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) will maintain up to date licensure in the state of Pennsylvania, and continuing education credits at all times. CPR certification is required.

Skills: The FLEX Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) needs to have highly effective oral and written communication skills and have the ability to relate to and work with people of all ages, social and ethnic backgrounds. The physician must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and inspire confidence and trust in patients and staff. They must have the ability to understand patient needs as consumers of health care and focus service around those needs.

Responsibilities include:

Primary Care: Provide and coordinate primary care for patients at the Philadelphia FIGHT Community Health Centers. Provider will cover for current providers while they are out of the clinic on FMLA, Vacation, or CME. Provider will have a schedule of 8 clinical sessions a week and 2 administrative sessions to be scheduled based on the needs of the clinic and provider outages. This may include extended time in one area to cover FMLA or change on a monthly basis based on providers' planned vacations and CME days. Provider would be given their schedule 2 months in advance once outages are scheduled so that patients may schedule with the FLEX provider and provider may plan their other activities.

Assure that all care is delivered in a manner that is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations, the requirements of payers, and consistent with all policies that affect Philadelphia FIGHT as an FQHC. The Flex Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) will remain knowledgeable of applicable standards of care and treatment guidelines and will maintain continuing education credits as required by their professional licensure, to remain up to date on all such standards and guidelines.

Clinic sessions: Establish clinic sessions of four hours time eight sessions per week on schedule based on provider outages. Participate in after-hours call as a member of the pediatric clinical team. This provider is expected to take at-home, after-hours pediatric calls for the clinic's 24-hour emergency line on a rotating basis - approximately 1 week a month.

Other duties:

Qualityassurance: Participate in regular case conference meetings, participate in ongoing peer review and other oversight protocols as necessary to assure that U.S. Public Health Service, DHHS, BPHC, HAB or other relevant guidelines are adhered to in the health center and that research conducted at the health centers by Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) is in conformance with standards of Good Clinical Practice. The Flex Advance Practice Provider (PA/NP) is also required to actively participate and be a clinical leader in quality improvement activities within the health center.

Confidentiality: They must maintain confidentiality of all patients, clients, and research subjects of the FQHC in accordance with HIPAA.

Other: Initial probationary period is three months. Performance of other tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.

Salary range: Competitive; Exempt; Loan repayment available

Travel Requirements: Minimal local travel required between Philadelphia FIGHT Health Centers.

Work Hours: 40 Hours/Week (M-F 9:00am - 5:00pm)
